Job Description :
Event Coordinator, Octagon Marketing North America
Position Summary:
Octagon is looking for Event Coordinators to assist with the launch of a major technology brand in the Houston, TX market. The ECs will report to an in-market Account Executive and will implement entertainment-themed technology showcase events throughout the market. This position will involve significant travel within the Houston metro area. Travel out of market may be necessary as required. Applicant would need to be based out of Houston. The position will require individuals comfortable with engaging consumers in group and one-on-one demonstrations. NOTE: Although this is temporary position; it requires full time hours, including some weekends. The dates of this Program are: ASAP – September 2010
Responsibilities and Duties:
• On-site event operations and execution
• Product demonstration
• Extensive weekend and some holiday work
• Advance site visits to ensure venues conform to program requirements
• Event set-up and breakdown
• Daily/weekly summaries and post-event reports
• Other related duties/projects as assigned including assisting in the development of client deliverables

Required Qualifications:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• College Degree: Ideal for new or recent Graduate
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required
• Comfort and interest in new technology
• Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative and solve problems independently
• Extremely organized with exceptional time-management skills
• Must be able to deal effectively with all types of personalities
• Needs to be able to illustrate the passion to work in event management

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
- Two or more years professional accounting experience encompassing similar duties
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred
- CPA preferred
