Texas Young Professionals is a community of professionals in their 20s to mid-40s across Texas. Our mission to foster relationship-building, career development, entrepreneurial endeavors and civic involvement among young professionals. The TYP vision is to empower our members to be leaders in business and our local communities.

Leadership

The leadership in our organization is a collaborative meritocracy. TYP seeks to empower our volunteers who demonstrate leadership, initiative and vision. Our leadership works together as a team to develop new programs and initiatives, plan and coordinate events, programs and projects, and communicate with our members. The role of our leaders is to build TYP into the premiere young professionals organization in Texas. We appreciate that the only way to do that is to create an organization that is focused on the needs and interests of our members.

About Texas Young Professionals

Our Beginnings.

Texas Young Professionals was formed in January 2009 in Houston, Texas. We began with a desire to build a network where young professionals could meet  and build relationships with other young professionals.  From the beginning, TYP leveraged social media by creating a LinkedIn forum. As more and more new members began to join TYP, we quickly began to see the possibilities for building a community of young professionals. As we listened to our members, we understood their desire to move beyond social media to in-person relationships and activities.

Building a Community.

Our initial events were in Houston and Austin, the chapters in Dallas, San Antonio and Fort Worth were formed shortly after. We have strived to use social events to build a sense of belonging to a community and being part of a high minded purpose. We have made every effort to create a safe, engaging environment based on goodwill and meaningful conversation.  As we foster an environment where business relationships and friendships can be nurtured, we hope to see new business partnerships launched.

Community Initiatives: "Do-Goodery"

We have a passion for being engaged in our community through volunteering, charity and civic involvement.  All members are encouraged to support charitable and humanitarian organizations, and to dedicate time to volunteer service.

Professional Development

As TYP enters its second year, we are planning a series of presentations and seminars focused on career development, professionalism, and leadership. These informative presentations may be industry-specific or on topics of general interest.  The presentations will be designed to inform and educate our members, and foster professional development and leadership.

TYP Entrepreneurship

TYP is launching  business roundtables for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs. Each roundtable will allow entrepreneurs to freely exchange ideas on starting and operating a business, developing technology, commercializing products and services, pricing, raising capital, and other practical issues.

TYP Women.

TYP has a firm commitment to empowering women in business and in their communities.  TYP Women is launching a series of  ladies-only social gatherings, service projects and presentations on career development for young professional women.

Our members include accountants, architects, engineers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and other young professionals in energy, finance & financial services, healthcare, information technology, oilfield services, petrochem, public relations, real estate, telecommunications, as well as charities and non-profit organizations.
